Located in Jumeirah, Dubai, the Temple Villa draws inspiration from its owners; Mr. Kabir, who is Indian, and Mrs. Nadia, who is Emirati; resulting in a design that seamlessly blends the rich architectural heritage of both cultures. The villa stands as a striking testament to traditional elements, thoughtfully integrated to enhance everyday living, creating an immersive experience where these two distinct cultures converge in harmony.
The pavilion kit represents all the individual pavilions designed to meet the functional needs of the house. Each pavilion draws inspiration from traditional Emirati and Indian architectural elements, thoughtfully modernized to suit contemporary requirements. Through this design approach, the house achieves sustainability and efficiency while seamlessly integrating a passive ventilation and cooling system, incorporating features such as wind towers, shaded external walls, and a central atrium. Additionally, the layout prioritizes comfort by clearly distinguishing high-energy and low-energy spaces. By designing these pavilions, each area maintains its own distinct identity while serving the residents independently.
The ground floor’s deliberate north-south orientation, with the Iwan facing south, is a striking example of Feng Shui’s influence.
The Orientation represents Energy, Passion and Transformation.
It Introduces a dynamic and vibrant energy to the building, which can be beneficial for creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere as people enter the space.
The Rotation of the First Floor by 60 degrees and facing North-East infuses the pavilions with positive, vitalizing energy. It connects to the Wood Element, a vibrant, resting and growth-oriented qualities, in addition to enabling the alignment with the Surrounding Road.
By having a clear distinction in orientations between the ground floor and the first floor, the house fosters a balance of Yin and Yang energies. This balance creates a dynamic interplay between different aspects of life—active social interactions and restful personal spaces—within the same building.
The complementary energies of the ground floor (Yin) and the first floor (Yang) work together to create a harmonious living environment for the occupants. The Yin energy of the ground floor provides a stable foundation and nurturing atmosphere, while the Yang energy of the first floor brings in growth and vitality.
The villa’s entrance is designed as a statement, introducing the overall vision of the residence. It opens onto a wind tower, beneath which a water feature is placed to enhance the passive cooling effect throughout the villa. The arches evoke traditional architecture, while the use of earthy-toned paint creates a contrasting transition between the exterior environment and the villa’s internal atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of the project.
